Employers Initiative on Domestic Abuse - Flagship Conference 17th October 2024

I had a great day at EIDA's flagship conference In London on October 17th, so much drive and desire to make lasting change, kindly hosted by Google in their amazing office in King's Cross.

The day was full of Illuminating and inspiring examples of how organisations have already helped so many employees, and it was encouraging to learn how EIDA membership continues to mushroom.

Domestic Abuse is a workplace issue, employers can play a crucial role in raising awareness and allowing survivors space for action within a safe environment. The importance of domestic abuse training for employers was a theme throughout the day, and that training should equip organisations and line managers with kills and confidence to respond and refer to specialist domestic abuse organisations who can create safety and manage risk.

Nicole Jacobs, Domestic Abuse Commissioner and Jess Phillips MP, Safeguarding Minister (pictured) opened the conference with an inspiring reflection on how we've got to where we are today, reminding everyone of the first refuges for women that opened over 50 years ago, brilliantly facilitated by EIDA chair, Sarah Newton.
